Results Issue I notice that when the "essay" question option is chosen.. no results are sent in email.
Is there a way to send results in email so they can be manually graded? Also.. if getting results online is the only option... I'm having issues downloading them. When I click the excel icon next to my quiz results, I only have the option to open in notepad. Is there a way to retrieve all results for a specific quiz? Because I have approximately 150 people taking this quiz, and opening 150 separate files almost negates the convenience this program offers. Thanks for the help! -Mark Mark I would like to know the same answer - thanks, Danny Danny Hi Mark and Danny
There is no automatic marking of essay type questions, each answer has to be individually assessed. Therefore the result cannot be sent along with the results for the automatically marked questions. I am not sure why you are having problems with the option to use excel. Could you send us a bit more detail? It seems that you would be better to use the web based results server to get the results for your quiz - you can then download them to excel. You can register and access the quizzes via this link [www.quiz-software.com] Use the same email address as you did for the results by email. You should be able to see all of your quizzes and download the results by quiz using excel. I am about to make this a subject in the online manual so your feedback will be very welcome Hazel, Question Writer Support Hi Mark,
Just to clarify - the e-mail with the results does (or should at any rate) contain any text entered for the essay style question. Also, when you access your results online, you can again see any text entered for the essay question. If you're not seeing that with one of your quizzes, please send the URL and I'll check it out for you. The Excel download will usually open in Excel if you have the .csv file extensions correctly associated with Excel. If you don't, you can right click the Excel icon and choose 'save as' to download the file to your hard disk. Then open Excel and open the file directly. Alexander McCabe Thanks for the responses.
As for the online excel results... I have registered for this, but there are no results available to me at this time. Oddly enough, I have a test online currently that I made and posted AFTER buying the $195 version of this program... and roughly 60 sets of answers have been sent through it. So, I'm not entirely sure why there are no results available, but it's a little disturbing to drop $195 on a program and still have these lingering issues. One other question I did have... is that there seems to be no way to prevent cheating on these tests. Anyone could start the test, answer the 10 questions, and when they get to the "end of quiz" page... simply jot down the questions... look for the answers online... and return to the form later to start over again. I have each question timed, but unless they submit the answers at the end of the quiz, they could enter the form 1,000 times... and I'd never know. Any advice on this? You would think for $195... there would be a way for it to send you an incomplete quiz if someone logs out mid-quiz. I'm probably going to have to spend another $50-$100 for some kind of IP tracking php script that will log when they visited the page with the quiz. Otherwise, I love the program. Thanks for the info, Mark Mark Hi Mark,
We're having some difficultly with our host today. They've been transferring to a new server and some results over the past 24 hours were sent to our back-up server while the main server was down. We're working on tranferring those back onto our main server so there is a delay with those, but we are not expecting to lose any result sets. Regarding the cheating on the tests - there is an option to only show feedback to users after they have submitted their results. Here's more information on that, [en.wikibooks.org] I'm not sure the other problem (of students viewing the questions and then restarting) is one we can address with a quiz without invigilation. There are a lot of ways to cheat on an online test without invigilation (get a friend to do it, or get a friend to write down the questions, or browse the answers while online). Like fixing one hole in a cup that has three holes - without being able to address all the issues, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to worry about one in particular. If you're looking for tracking - I can recommend Google Analytics. Also if we support an 'in-quiz' tracking solution in a later version, it's likely to be Google Analytics. Alexander McCabe Thanks Alexander.
You have also answered a question of mine regarding lost results. When do you expect this server issue to be fixed? I am expecting to have results ready on sunday.. and I am missing a bunch of results. Thank you, Mark Mark Alex has posted this message on the forum
"Over the past 24 hours, there have been some outages on our main server. During this time the result sets have been received and stored on our back-up server. We're working on getting those results transferred back onto our mail server. We expect to be able to do this over the next 24 hours. As the results are transferred onto our main server, you'll get an email for each one if you're registered to receive e-mail and you'll be able to log on and view them at the main server. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this delay, we're working to get this resolved as fast as possible. Edited 1 times. Last edit at 07/31/08 05:14PM by Alexander McCabe." Hazel Skeet |
