Skip Questions Workaround When you recommended changing <pair name="forceattempt" value="False" /> to <pair name="forceattempt" value="True" /> to force the student to answer multiple choice questions, I was happy. I tried the change and it worked. I don't have questions without answers so your caveat did not apply.
Shortly thereafter I bought the Professional Academic version. I also downloaded Version 3.1. I also changed to a new wide theme. I did all three without testing. Now <pair name="forceattempt" value="True" /> does not seem to work when I change themes. Worse, when I change back to the original theme, "forceattempt" doesn't work. I liked the wide themes because they left much more space for long questions and long feedback but now students can skip questions. I hope you have another workaround or tell me where I've gone astray. Since I downloaded 3.1 and changed to a wide theme without testing, I don't know if it's me or the new version. I am going to download a "free" trial version on another computer to see if "forceattempt" works on a clean version of ".qwz". John M. Bryant Hi John,
When you apply a new theme, the forceattempt value that you changed changes to the value that is in the theme . . . which is "False" in all the supplied themes. You can either 1. Change the value to 'False' in the theme too. Or 2. Switch to the new theme. Then save your file. Close QW. Edit your .qwz. Re-open the file. Alexander McCabe You are not only good, you are fast. It worked like a charm. :) John M. Bryant |
