QW Tracker Tokens

I am setting a test for 15 students, some in class. and some at home as distance learning.
When I set one token, this will stop them trying a second attempt after submitting their first test.
However, if they all take the test in-class using the same IP address, will this stop the 2nd+ students from taking the test as the system will "think" it has already been taken the first time?
It does not know it is a different person?
From home online, the students will all have a different IP address, so does the Token know that each one is unique and not block the second student to sign on?
Suppose two students are together at home, and one does his/her test, signs off and then the second student signs on and tries to access the test - will the token then block him/her thinking it is the same person?

Oops - I signed off too soon - I meant to add:
But if I select 10 tokens, and I have 10 students, do I provide each individual student with their own link with their "personalized" named token with a link on the website page?
So when they select their own named link, they get their one try only and do not stop others also logging on and getting their one try as well.
Phew - I think I have explained myself?

As I understand it Barrie all you need to create is 1 quiz and then generate 15 individual tokens that are issued personally to each student. Then it does not matter what the IP address is. Once that token has been entered to start a test it cannot be used again. So turn off IP adress blocking and jsut issue the 15 individual tokens and will not matter if they all did it on the same PC.

Hi Barrie

Just to clarify as I think you are talking about 2 different features.

The tokens act like entry tickets for the quiz - everyone who has a ticket can get in. You create the number of tokens that you need and issue one to each person who you want to access the quiz. Each person will be able to access the quiz from wherever.

You can, if you want to, personalise the tokens by embedding their user id.

You can also, if you wish, restrict access to your quiz by IP address....

(Alex Edit: this operates in concert with the token, so a user must then have a token and a valid IP address.)

I hope this helps.

The penny dropped as soon as I sent my message and I twigged on that I just had to create a link for each student to a token.
The first big test will be on Wednesday and 15 students know they get one go, and one only.
I hope they do not steal another student's link, I have listed their names on the webpage and told them they can only click their own link (or else !!!!!)

Hi Barrie,

I'd have to describe this approach as 'brave'! I'd recommend e-mailing the tokens individually to each student to ensure one student doesn't click on another's link to preview the quiz. This kind of 'previewing' is one of things that the tokens are set up to prevent.
