results tracking

A question about results tracker and how it works.... I only half understood the documentation.

If I have this correct, resulttracker runs by default on one of QuestionWriters servers, I assume it stores details of quizzes taken in a database.

If I run the flash quiz on my site, I assume I can still publish this result data to the resulttracker ?

I can see that I have an option to specify a different resulttracker server... does this mean I can run my own resulttracker on my server ? If so, what do I install and is there some ddl to set up the database ?

Ideally I'd love the ability to store results data local to my site so I can easily run some SQL against it to produce some specific results tables - is this possible ?

OK... been digging around ans found this link....

...to the collator service... seems like what I want, however...

Is there any more documentation on this than the blog entry ?

Thanks again.

OK, so I spotted an "INSTALL" file in the zip.... explains what I need.

I should RTFM !

It sounds like you've answered all your own questions - let me know if there's anything that you still need answers on.

Hi Alexander,

I've not got round to trying to install Collator locally....

I've created a new DB on MySQL and created the tables... all OK.

I see the next step is... "Place all the files in the collator directory onto your webserver."... what exactly do you mean by this ? Clearly I have no need of the "INSTALL" file or the SQL file, but as for the others, plus the "include" directory... do you mean these ?

I'm using XAMPP locally.... should I create a new directory under htdocs called collator and copy the stuff there ? (this will affect the servlet context - does it matter).

I suppose I need to "Place the 'crossdomain.xml' file in the root directory of your webserver's content" i.e. directly in htdocs ?

Thanks
Karine

the last post should read.... "I've NOW got round to trying to install Collator locally"

Yes create a 'collator' directory and copy the contents of the zip file into it. You can leave out the install and sql file, but do include the 'include' directory and contents.

I'm not familiar with XAMPP/Servlets - you'll need to have PHP installed.

crossdomain.xml should go directly in htdocs - yes.

Hallo Ron

Yes you can do this very easily with Question Writer.

When you start a new quiz you can right click on the green quiz icon and select properties. This is where you adjust the settings for the quiz. There is an option called "Introduction" and here you can include a field (or five fields if you have the Professional version) asking for information about the quiz taker. The next button will not appear until this field (or fields) have some text in them.

You can read more about this in our online manual:[en.wikibooks.org]

I hope this helps you, but if you need any more information please do not hesitate to contact us again.
