default for points

Hi again
When I write a test for many questions the default seems to be 10 points per question. I want to be able to have a global setting so that I can make it 1 or 5 and it changes all questions in the section to that number. Some of my tests are 100 questions long so timeconsuming to have to change each one.

also I dont want to give a pass or fail to students- how do I set the test so that it omits this report option?

Hi Robert,

You can change this default, but it is not a standard setting.

Firstly you need to be using QW4 (Standard or Professional) - Then edit the following file with something like Notepad -

C:\Program Files (x86)\Question Writer 4\Languages\Quiz.resx

Locate the following section by searching for 'IV345'

<data name="IV345">
<value>10</value>
<comment>This should not be translated</comment>
</data>

Change the value from 10 to something else.

Also, you'll find settings in Quiz Options - Report settings / Report Labels to change whether pass/fail is displayed, and what words are used.

Hallo Robert

to answer the second part of your question, if you have a look at the Report Settings - Report Options in the Quiz Properties window you can select what appears in the summary report, including a pass or fail message and the passing score.

see [en.wikibooks.org]

You can also set the pass score as low as you like in your Quiz Properties windows by changing the score in Quiz Details - Pass Score Percentage: [en.wikibooks.org]

I hope this helps
