Just a blank page

Hello. Ive used an older version of question writer and it worked fine then. Now i wanted to make a new one and used the newer version. I did the quiz, published it for the web and uploaded the files to my webfolder as I did before. But when I click the quiz link on my webpage I just get a blank page. Nothing. Its not giving a "page cant be found" error or anything. Its just blank.

My webpage is www.martinlindersten.com
The link is called "Frågeformulär" its swedish for "Quiz". :)

I hope you can help me. :/

Best regards.

Hi Martin,

It looks to me like the .js file is not in place - here's where it should be,

but this return a '404 not found' error.

No all files are at place. Im using a trial version. May that have something to do with it? it says "Not For Distribution" in the beginning. I can open the quiz on my computer without any problem. But not on the internet.

Hallo Martin

The evaluation of the software includes publishing so you can publish quizzes created with the trial version... but only as a test.

You could try publishing to Question Writer Tracker and then just adding the link to your webpage - if that works it would help to isolate where the problem is occurring. Please let us know the outcome.

If that doesn't work, can you send the .qwz file to us by email and we can have a look at the quiz and hopefully find a solution.

Hi Martin,

It still looks like the .js file is not in the right place - this is what is causing the problem.

I have a similar problem. .js file is in place but link returns a blank page. No doubt I'm doing something (simple) wrong!

Web page is here [www.irishacademyofarms.org]

and link (at bottom of page) to test is [www.irishacademyofarms.org]

Thanks

Links truncated in above post - should be
[www.irishacademyofarms.org]

and
[www.irishacademyofarms.org]

Hi David,

The .js file is not in the right place -

This link generates a 404 'not found' error where the .js file should be -

Hi Alexander

Host has 3 directories - irishacademyofarms.org/ logs/ stats

I've put writeflash.js (the only .js file produced) in the root of irishacademyofarms.org and in the 'test' sub-folder with no different result.

Where should it be?

It should be in the same directory as the .html file - the test directory in this case. When it is in the correct location, it will be accessible at the link above. That link currently returns a 404 error, indicating the file is not there.

The files in the'test'directory are:

index.html
v1irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v2irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v3irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v4irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v5irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v6irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v7irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v8irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v9irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
v10irishrefereesassessmentwritten.swf
writeflash.js

It appears that the .js file is not being recognised, although I have uploaded the files again, without any different result.

Hi David,

It looks like the file name has been changed slightly. Web hosting can be case-sensitive. Change 'writeflash.js' back to 'writeFlash.js' and it should work.

Thanks for that - upload automatically writes all in lower case - now works fine.
