‘All My Children‘ ends its glorious run on U.S. daytime television this Friday. A sad day for fans of the soap opera show which has been a staple in American households for more than four decades.
Loyal fans across generations have watched the show and its enduring stories of romance, rivalries, crime and the usual stuff seen in most soap operas. They all rooted for or against characters they can identify with, even as those characters changed, well, character. Heck, they even threw in a serial killer for good measure.
Never mind the sometimes preposterous or even supernatural story lines (at least they didn’t feature vampires). Fans have always been there for the emotional roller coaster ride. They have relished every scene of ‘All My Children’ from the beginning.
Fans watched how Erica Kane survived countless marriages and how she seems to get involved with every male character not her child. Super couples Jesse Hubbard and Angie Baxter or Greg Nelson and Jenny Gardner sent fans swooning.
Let’s say bye-bye to the show now but all those memories will remain. ‘All My Children’ will feature some returning stars (Sarah Michelle Gellar, among others) for the finale on Friday on ABC. It’s one last chance to see your favorite soap opera!
The show is supposedly set to move online but its 41-year run on TV is over. The residents of Pine Valley will surely be missed.
