A Learning Activity – Make a Quiz

John Moloney has posted a short review of Question Writer. He’s advocating creating quizzes as an activity that promotes learning.

“Having the students make their own Q & A quizzes and tests gives them a self-attended activity that alone generally gives more personal satisfaction, more successful results on evaluations and better grades.”

It’s an interesting direction and the conversation adds some more confirmation of the approach – from Laura Gibbs –

“I’ve found that students are INCREDIBLY motivated by seeing other students’ work. That is real to them in a way that a textbook, say, just is not real somehow. When they see other students’ work, they believe in it, and believe that they can do something as good or better themselves.”

Question Writer Basic is free to use for this kind of classroom activity and our academic site licenses allow everybody on site to use the Professional version of the software.
