Back in July of this year, there was news of South Korea moving to digital (text)books by 2015. It really isn’t that far away and considering the number of ebooks in use, as well ebook devices (tablets and smart phones definitely included), it’s nor surprising at all.
It’s a natural progression for me. I mean, books are a dying business- no matter how much I love the old book smell and turning pages, technology will make these two unknown to the next generations.
Going back to South Korea, according to ExtremeTech.com, they will be spending about $2 billion (yes, with a “b”) to digitize those bulky text books and maybe to purchase tablets to read them on. To learn more, click on the link above.
