Great Gobs of Beautiful New Features

There’s a new update to Quiz Edition available today, which has a handful of new features. Without further ado..
Report Removal: Now it’s possible to remove the report screen from the Quiz. You might want to do this if you want to collect the scores using the Results By E-mail service and give the score to students at a later date. This option is
Quiz Properties -> Advanced Settings -> Report Options -> Display Report Screen
Inline Image: It’s now possible to turn the image zooming off, and have the image display inline in the question. The image will be displayed at its default size, so you’ll need to make sure it is the right size before importing it into the program. This option is
Quiz Properties -> Advanced Settings -> General Question Properties -> Use Image Zooming
Maximize In Browser: By default, quizzes will try to maximize themselves inside the browser, but it’s possible now to just have the quiz displayed at it’s default dimensions – usually 800×600. This gives better results in some browsers – especially for mobile devices.
Quiz Properties -> Web Settings -> Browser Options
Basic API: There’s a very basic way to interface with the Quiz from your own Flash application – the API has three basic functions to find out it state (loading, sending, finished), but expect it to expand in the future. Don’t be afraid to ask for anything you’d like to see it do. Details on the API will be made available shortly.
Small Image Zoom: Where the theme uses very small dimensions (less than 200 in width), the image zoom will take up a smaller amount of space. This is useful for displaying content on very small screens, like mobile phones. (Note the PlayStation Portable has a 480 pixel width so will use the larger Image zoom).
Persistent Sending of Results: The routine that sends the results to the server is now more persistent. It never gives up, it just keeps trying to send the results. It also opens a status screen if it has to try more than twice with details of what’s going on. This is useful if the internet connection is disrupted during a quiz. It gives the user or system administrator the opportunity to repair the connection so that the results can be sent through.
Feedback Images: This was a last minute addition following a request on the Question Writer Forum – it’s now possible to switch the images that appear on the feedback screens (ticks, crosses, arrows) with your own flash images. More details on the forum.
